Thinking of Visiting

Thinking of attending a worship service at Lawrence Drive, but not sure what to expect?

We realize that visiting a new church can be a little intimidating, so we'd like to answer some common questions.

How do I get to Lawrence Drive Baptist Church?
LDBC is located at 5774 School Rd, Macon, GA 31216.

What time do your services start?
LDBC currently has two times for morning worship on Sunday; 9:30am & 10:45am. During both times we have Life Groups (small group Bible studies) and child care.

We also meet at various times throughout the week for Bible studies, prayer and other fellowship opportunities. Check the coming events schedule for dates and times of other activities.

Do I have to dress up?
No, you don't. We encourage people to dress comfortably. For some, that may mean dressing up, but for most it simply means wearing casual clothes. The New Testament simply instructs us to dress modestly and decently, so we do not burden people unnecessarily by requiring them to dress up in fancy clothes they do not normally wear just to "go to church." We want everyone to come, worship and feel free to learn about God together.

Will I have to stand up in front of people?

We know that some traditions call on their visitors to stand up during the service and/or introduce themselves. While the people at LDBC are genuinely interested in getting to know you and make you feel welcome, we’re not going call on you or embarrass you in any way. You can relax and enjoy meeting people at your own pace.

What kind of music do you have?
This is a common question. A huge debate has arisen in churches over whether traditional music or contemporary music is "right." We believe that God has inspired people throughout the ages to write hymns and songs of praise and that He continues to inspire musicians from all generations to write music that praises Him and brings glory to His name. We believe that debates regarding styles of music are more a matter of personal preference than anything else.

We offer a blend of traditional and contemporary worship services praising God with great church hymns of both past and present, as well as using a blend of music styles to glorify God. You will hear a great mix of new and old music - plenty of songs you know and love; popular contemporary Christian music, old gospel favorites, and some traditional music.

In our 9:30 service you will hear traditional hymns and classic songs of faith. While at the 10:50 time the music more a contemporary style. But even when the music is different, the focus of all of our worship services is to bring glory to God and to support and encourage every worshipper in their journey of faith.

What's the preaching like?
At Lawrence Drive, it is our sincere desire to share God's Word in all its truth without watering it down, to share it in love, and in ways that are interesting, engaging and relevant to your daily life.

Pastor Brad Marchman presents a weekly message that is straight from the Word of God without pulling any punches. But why not find out for yourself? Listen online now!

Where will my children go during the service?
Your children and students will love LDBC! We provide fun, hands-on Bible lessons and activities every Sunday morning designed especially to help them learn the truths of the Bible.

We provide a safe, cozy nursery for infants through four years just outside of the sanctuary in our Weekday Preschool facilities.

Our children's ministry is lead by parents just like you who value every child and treat them with the utmost care and attention. In the first hour they break into small groups to learn Bible stories and truth of God. In the second hour they enjoy a full blown children’s worship time in Kidz World.

AMP, for students 6th-12th, provides Bible teaching and activities that are designed to develop students’ knowledge and relationship during these formative years. Students this age participate, and in many cases help lead, in the 9:30 service and have their own worship time at 10:45.

Do I have to be a Member to participate?
At Lawrence Drive you do not have to be a member to participate in any ministry functions, we actually want as many non-members to participate as possible. We offer many events and festivals to the community and encourage participation by all members and non-members.
